The line between compassion and feeling what others feel seems to be very thin for many empathetic people. Many of them suffer from depression and low self-esteem because the emotions and the inability to help people is overwhelming. Although, they may be naturally happy people, they are often unintentionally vibrating at a low frequency. It sounds crazy right? The ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes causes you to descend to a lower vibration. Wonder why? The answer lies in that old cliche adage that like attracts like. Unhappy people vibrate on the same frequency as other unhappy people. Happy people vibrate on the same frequency as other happy people. When the unhappy person crosses paths with the happy person the energy doesn't match. When the energy isn't aligned something has to change. They will either vibrate out of each other's experience, the happy person will do or say something to raise the unhappy person's frequency (temporarily), or the unhappy person will do or say something that will lower the happy person's frequency ( temporarily). Which scenario do you think plays out the most?
I wrote a book describing what techniques empaths can use to keep their energy high. After I wrote the book, it was then that I realized that empathy is a low vibration because it causes one to attract victims that need empathy. If you can't empathize with someone then you won't attract a person that needs empathy. Am I saying that you should look down on someone and their plight? Absolutely not! I am saying that the third scenario described above is the one that often plays out the most. If you are a happy person and you are constantly exposed to negative energy, after some time it will lower your vibrations as well. Have you ever known someone that each time after talking to them you feel completely drained? Something is always going wrong in their lives. Have you ever known someone and you dread hearing from them because they always need advice or a favor? They cause your energy level to drop from the conversation alone! How do we reverse the empathy curse?
- By becoming more selfish- Yes, you read that right. A degree of selfishness is the key to happiness in this world.
2. Loving ourselves more - Set boundaries on what you are willing to give, whether it's time or resources.
3. Raise your vibrations - Having fun, laughter, indulging in your favorite things, and meditation are some of the best ways to quickly raise your vibrations.
